Danzka drunk straight from freezer

08 February, 2008

Global Brands has expanded its spirits portfolio with the addition of the Danzka Vodka range.

Distilled in Denmark, the wheat vodka is presented in an aluminium bottle which chills the vodka 50 times faster than traditional glass packaging, according to Global. It is designed to be drunk straight from the freezer.

The range consists of Danzka pure vodka as well as four other flavoured brands - citrus fruit, grapefruit, blackcurrant and cranberry & raspberry - which all have a 40 per cent abv.

Spokeswoman Jenny Allaway said: "The products are innovative and will appeal to consumers who are looking for a premium drink with a modern twist. It's the only vodka in the world which is available to buy in an aluminium bottle."

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
