Coors reshuffle creates new roles

07 March, 2008

Coors sales director John Holberry will be replaced by two people following his move to Magners Great Britain.

The brewer has decided to split the sales director role into two when Holberry leaves the company for his new position as managing director.

John Heynen, who has been with Coors for the past four years, will be responsible for sales at national retail groups and distributors in the off and on-trades, while Steve Ellis, a Coors employee for 14 years, will look after business with the independents in the on-trade.

Coors has also appointed David Heede to the board as strategy director. All three will begin their jobs on March 17 at Coors' head office in Burton on Trent.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
