Distil announces guest speakers

07 March, 2008

International spirits fair Distil has teamed up with UK-based network of speakers Taste & Flavour to host a series of blind tastings and educational seminars.

Designed to offer "industry insight and specialist guidance on the heritage, production and flavour profiles of a broad spectrum of spirits", the Distil

tastings will be open to all visitors at the show, which will take place alongside the London International Wine Fair

at ExCe l, London, on May 20-22.

Speakers include Beefeater's master distiller Desmond Payne, spirits writer Ian Wisniewski, whisky expert Dave Broom, La Fée Absinthe owner George Rowley and London's Rumfest founder Ian Burrell.

Taste & Flavour founder Mark Ridgwell said: "Today's back bar and retail shelf will often carry a greater range of spirits than the average wine list. It's time for those responsible for their sale to judge and list spirits more on the basis of what's in the bottle than on price or brand values."
