Hula Hoops' health values improved

United Biscuits has upped the health credentials of Hula Hoops.

From this week, the core range will be free from artificial colours, flavours and monosodium glutamate. The move follows a healthy overhaul of the brand last year, when it cut saturated fat by 55 per cent.

Commercial manager Nick Stuart said: "Hula Hoops is one of the most iconic and best-recognised brands in the UK, and we are pleased to continue to drive innovation and respond to

consumer

demands for healthier

snacks."

A £2 million TV ad campaign will run from May to July to tell consumers about the changes.

United Biscuits is

introducing a

Cheese &

Onion flavour to its grab bag format, and is replacing its

limited

edition multipacks with a meat variant containing 12 packs of Smoky Bacon, Roast Chicken, BBQ Beef and Original flavours.

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
