Former Oddbins buying and marketing director Emma Nichols has been recruited by Constellation Europe to help grow its premium wine business.

Nichols, who left Oddbins at the end of last year, joins the drinks producer today as director of premium wine following the company's decision to shake up the category.

Earlier this month, Constellation announced it was cutting the number of premium wineries it represents to 13 and changing the name of its premium wine division from Cellar Door to Premium Wine Estates in a bid to build that side of the business.

Simon Thorpe MW, vice president at Constellation Europe, said Nichols brought a "wealth of experience and talent" to the role.

“This is a new role and underlines Constellation’s commitment to growing its premium wine business," he said.

Nichols was a senior wine buyer at Safeway and marketing manager for Vinoceros before joining Oddbins.
