Thatchers Cider repackages whole range

31 March, 2008

Thatchers is bottling all its ciders in lightweight bottles after introducing the style to its range of single variety ciders.

Thatchers Gold, Thatchers Pear Cider and Thatchers Oak Matured will now also be packaged in 50cl lightweight bottles.

Thatchers managing director Martin Thatcher said: “The new, shorter bottle has stronger shelf presence, as well as being fridge friendly.

“Mindful of minimising packaging requirements, we have also reduced the weight of the bottle.”

According to research carried out by the Waste Resources Action Programme, reducing the weight of all glass containers by 10 per cent in the UK could save 250,000 tonnes of glass and would produce 180,000 tonnes less of carbon emissions per year.
