Award for north west's best

18 April, 2008

The North West Wines & Spirits Association is

searching for the region's top wine retailer .

The

North West Specialist Wine Retailer of the Year competition will be judged by an independent panel of people

working in the drinks trade in the

area.

Wine merchants will be judged on their range of wines and spirits ,

store environment and customer experience.

Judges will also look for stores with knowledgeable staff and demonstration of innovative marketing and merchandising .

NWWSA chairman Paul Boutinot said the idea

was to promote good practice and competitive spirit in the area.

"The north west boasts a long history in the wine and spirit trade and some of the finest wine merchants in the country. It is only fitting that the passion and creativity of these independent specialist wine retailers is acknowledged and rewarded," he said.

Drinks retailers in Lancashire, Cheshire, North Wales and Cumbria should apply online at nwwsa.co.uk or call Fran Draper at Rumpus Communications on 0161 942 9988 for an entry form.

The closing date for entries is June 1. Judging will be

in September and winners and runners-up will be invited to an award ceremony at the Northern Benevolent Ball in November at Tatton Park, Knutsford.
