Manager of the Month

18 April, 2008

The winning manager is Paul Morgan from independent 3B Wines in Paignton, South Devon.

Paul 's winning team includes the fabulous Fernando Torres, who has hit successive hat tricks in Liverpool's March fixtures, and goal-scoring midfielder Gareth Barry, who had a great end to the month. Paul is sticking with the players he has now until the end of this campaign, and who would bet against him taking the April Manager of the Month title if Torres

continues to score at such a phenomenal rate? Could be worth a transfer at this late stage as the season comes to a finale.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
