Now loose juice is back in the hoose

Cadbury Trebor Bassett is backing the relaunch of its Maynards Wine Gums TV ad, which first screened in 1991, with a £2.4 million marketing spend.

Reviving the original jingle, "there's juice loose aboot this hoose", the ad features a dancing Scotsman and will be shown in 10 and 30 second bursts this month, with a second wave

in August.

In-store POS, posters, shelf-edge wobblers and dump bins with motion activated sound boxes will be available to independent retailers.

Trade communications manager Kate Harding said: "We

expect to see a real resurgence in Maynards Wine Gums' popularity.

" She added the decision to revive the ad follows an "overwhelming response" from customers when it was shown in research groups .

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
