English Wine Week is running

from May 24 to June 1 this year and we wanted to shout about how we encourage our customers to buy English wine. Bring up the subject and most will wrinkle their nose and make a face, but say the words "free tasting" and you'll find yourself with a room full of wine

lovers, eager to taste whatever you pour them. When we did this last year we kept the theme of the tasting secret, so when we revealed it was English wine people were curious. Open some bottles of dry, flinty whites and crisp, pale rosés and you've suddenly converted a room full of sceptics. Round the tasting off with something sparkling and you'll find your sales of English

Lifting the spirits

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”. At Nielsen, we define the Christmas period as the 12 weeks to December 30 and in that time gin sales were £199.4 million, which means they increased by £55.4 million compared with Christmas 2016.
