Lager art sums up spirit of Brazil

Bottles of Brahma lager featuring the work of a winning artist in a competition will be on sale in take-home from May.

Toby Whitbread from Kent took the top cash prize of £5,000 in the VistoBrahma competition to find a creative vision of urban Brazil.

His design will appear on limited-edition packaging for 500,000 bottles and four-packs .

Kirsty Hunter, director of marketing for Brahma at InBev UK, said: "These designs communicate the real urban spirit of Brazil in a contemporary fashion that will make a big impact with lager lovers in the months ahead."

The designs of three runners-up will also appear on a limited number of bottles and packaging from May.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
