Portugal is in the pink at this year's fair with a chance to sample an innovative pink port and meet the men who created the Pink Elephant brand. And everthing's coming up Rozès at the Percy Fox stand with the Colours Collection on show.

Symington Family Estates will be showing, on the Fells stand, the 2003 vintage of Graham's and Dow's LBV ports, having skipped the 2001 vintage as it considered the 2003 to be superior. The producer will also be launching the 2006 single quinta vintages of its Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta do Vesuvio ports. For those in search of a Douro wine to add to their range, look out for the new Valle de Bomfim 2006 , a dry red

that "reflects a new style of wine from the Upper Douro Valley". Stand E70

Rozès port, part of the Vranken-Pommery Monopole portfolio, will be showing the Colours Collection , launched in 2004, on the Percy Fox stand. Also available to taste will be Rozès Red Reserve, White Reserve, Gold 10 Year Old, LBV and 20 Year Old. Stand D62

Vinhos Borges will be presenting its new lower-alcohol brand Opala, a "crisp and refreshing" white from the Vinho Verde DOC. The wine has an abv of 9% and, along with its rosé partner,

will retail at £4.99. Borges will also present a range of red and white estate wines from the

Dão, Douro and Vinho Verde regions, as well as a red and white from its Lello brand and the sparkling Fita Azul from Trás-os-Montes, all at D&D Wines International. Stand L10.

10 International will be joined by José Neiva, the Portuguese winemaker who, along with Australian winemaker David Baverstock, created Pink Elephant rosé as "the perfect wine to match spicy food".

The wine was launched last year after

research which included a survey of 300 female wine drinkers.

Croft Pink, a new light ruby port, is

at the LIWF for the first time following its UK launch in March. The wine comes from The Fladgate Partnership, which aims to bring a new audience

to the port category and respond to a growing demand for rosé. Croft Pink

was developed by the Croft team, headed by winemaker David Guimaraens,

using white port technology .

The Fladgate Partnership is also the parent company of Taylor's, Fonseca and Croft, which will be presenting a diverse portfolio of ports. From Taylor's there will be the 1985 Vintage and the 1998 Quinta de Vargellas as well as 10 and 20 Year Old aged tawnies.

The new vintage (2003) of Fonseca's Unfiltered LBV will be presented alongside Terra Prima - an organic port launched in 2005 - a crusted port and two vintage ports, 1996 Quinta do Panascal and 1988 Fonseca Guimaraens.

For lighter summer drinking, Taylor's Chip Dry will be presented as "a refreshing alternative to the ubiquitous G&T". It is recommended with tonic, ice and a sprig of mint - a sun downer which is popular on long, warm evenings in the Douro Valley.

The Port & Douro Wines Institute

masses and recharge the ir batteries. The stand will be serving up a daily-changing menu of gourmet delicacies matched with Douro wines and Port every day from 12.30-2pm.

A tutored wine and food matching seminar will take place on May 22 and 23 at 11am, with wines matched to

tapas created specifically for the event.

A mixologist will be serving

a selection of

port-based cocktails on May 23 from 4 -6pm


the IVDP will hold a raffle in aid of the Benevolent Society. "The Port Cocktail Party will provide a great opportunity for members of the trade to wind down after day two of the fair whil e raising money for a very worthy cause," a spokesman said. Stand A10-B10

ViniPortugal will be showing new vintages from all over Portugal, as well as Madeira wines, on stand B20-C20.

The promotional body for Vinho Verde, in north-western Portugal, will be showing a range

on stand A20, including some lower alcohol and sparkling wines.
