Lifting the lid on Italy's best-kept secrets

Guy Anderson Wines is aiming to introduce consumers to some of Italy's more esoteric wines with a new range called Via Collina.

The first wine in the range is a Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba from the Langhe region of Piedmont, an area famous as the home of Barolo and Barbaresco, but whose Dolcetto is a more closely guarded secret.

The wine is being listed by Waitrose which is selling it for £6.99.

Simon Bradbury, sales director for Italy at Guy Anderson, said: "There is no shortage of Pinot Grigio or Chianti on the market but Italy has so much more to offer.

"Via Collina will help guide consumers towards some different wines they might otherwise have missed out on."

Picture the scene. You put your key in the keyhole, shove the door with your shoulder, drop your bags and look down. There, beaming up at you, is some relative or friend’s smug postcard with sandy beaches, Piña Coladas and palm trees (or, these days, an in nity pool and a detox smoothie) with a literal or metaphorical “wish you were here” written large.
