10 International has developed three new brands in the past year: La Poderosa from

Argentina, Left Bank from Yvon Mau in France, and Chamanto from Chile. Pink Elephant Rosť has gained distribution in the UK and has been supported by consumer shows and guerrilla marketing. Neil Bench, ex-Oddbins, has joined the company as operations director and Filipe Fernandez as Portuguese brand manager. The business is looking to develop more new brands in the year ahead.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
