Spanish design earns praise

11 July, 2008

3000 Años, a red wine produced by Bodegas del Rosario (DO Bullas) and No 1 Selección Especial, a sweet wine (DO Málaga) have been awarded Best Design trophies in the New Wave Spanish Wine Awards 2008.

The wines were selected from a line-up of 124 wines and judged by Neil Tully MW of design house Amphora and brand consultant Lynne Whitaker.

The judges praised 3000 Años for being "a truly inspirational label" and a bottle design which is "appropriate for its price point (£19.99)" while No 1 Selección Especial (37.5cl), got the thumbs up for "great stand-out" and being "very tactile". Both winning designs were also praised for "very engaging" and well-presented back labels.

3000 Años is imported by Guy Anderson Wines and No 1 Selección Especial is part of Indigo Wines' portfolio.

Tully and Whitaker will provide more comments on label design in OLN's New Wave Spanish Wine Awards supplement which will appear on Sept 5.
