Oddbins was founded in 1961 by maverick entrepreneur Ahmed Pochee, before being snapped up by Nick Baile

Seagram ran the chain between

1984 and 2001

The

nineties saw a period where Thresher (prior to the First Quench deal), Nader Haghighi, Allied Domecq and Tesco

had all been hotly tipped to buy the then flagship merchant

Castel, the French company that also owns the Nicolas chain, took over the helm from January 2001.
