Q Who drinks more beer - the Brits or the Aussies?

A It's quite a close -run thing but the Brits are just in front, swigging 95.6 litres a head compared

with 90.9 litres Down Under.

In Europe, British beer drinkers are outpaced by the Irish (106 litres), the Germans (115.2 litres) and the Czechs, who knock back a staggering 164.1 litres, according to figures compiled by the British Beer & Pub Association.

Lifting the spirits

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”. At Nielsen, we define the Christmas period as the 12 weeks to December 30 and in that time gin sales were £199.4 million, which means they increased by £55.4 million compared with Christmas 2016.
