Adnams taps into Monty's star wine

08 August, 2008

Adnams' Cellar & Kitchen will exclusively sell a biodynamic wine made by UK wine writer Monty Waldin and shown on a new TV series on Channel 4.

The retailer will promote the wines during August and September to coincide with the start of the six-part series, Chateau Monty, on Sept 4.

The programme follows the author in his bid to produce an affordable wine using biodynamic methods within 18 months of renting a vineyard in the Roussillon region of the French Pyrenees.

Retail development manager Caroline Fox said the wine was an ideal fit with Adnams' environmental policies. Strict biodynamic rules include avoiding chemicals, harvesting according to lunar cycles and a reliance on nature to protect and feed the vines.

A hardback book - Chateau Monty A Corking Wine Adventure - will be released to coincide with the series (rrp £16.99).
