Ramsay returns in Gordon’s ads

Gordon’s gin is continuing its association with Gordon Ramsay with the launch of a £3.5 million marketing campaign for the brand this autumn.

The campaign includes press, outdoor, digital and poster advertising, which will begin on Sept 1 and run until June 2009. The Diageo brand is also sponsoring the new series of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares.

The messages in the print and outdoor ads will feature Ramsay quotes such as “I always leave a tip, serve Gordon’s” and “my tongue might be sharp, but my gin isn’t”.

Diageo GB gin marketing manager Kathy Sawtell said: “Over the past year, the Gordon’s advertising campaign with Gordon Ramsay has been highly successful. We’re extremely pleased that we can continue our partnership and hope that the new campaign will help to build on the success of last year whilst creating additional sales opportunities for retailers.”

A new website for the brand will appear in September, featuring advice from Ramsay on how to make the definitive gin and tonic and offering prizes and special discounts.

Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
