PLB has revamped Brazilian lager Palma Louca with new lightweight bottles, screwcaps and a branded "chilled

look" six-pack case for the take-home sector. The new bottles weigh in at 200g, compared to a UK average of 300g for 35.5cl bottles. The brand has also won its first national listing in Morrisons at £4.99.

Scottish & Newcastle UK is

in-can scuba in convenience stores,

specialist chains and independents. There are 250,000 glasses up for grabs in the promotion, which S&N said offers consumers "pub quality at home".

7.6% abv Bud Premier Select has quadrupled its sales in the past year. The brew is made with the

same Moravian malt

and Saaz hops as Budvar, but lagered for some nine months rather than 90 days - which is what gives the off-trade exclusive brew its "oomph", according to off-trade director

Magners has reached 300,000 people in a country-wide sampling campaign this summer,

which followed a Magners Light sampling push in spring, the company has said.

Innis & Gunn's top-end, oak-aged beers are to be distributed in the on-trade from this month, after Marston's took over the brand's distributor Refresh earlier this year.

Camra is encouraging beer lovers to try a new style every day in a new book, A Beer a Day, by OLN expert writer Jeff Evans. The book is in calendar format and finds a major event, season or other commemoration for every day of the year, and a suitable beer to drink for it.

Manns Original Brown Ale has seen an 11% sales surge thanks to shoppers looking for lower -alcohol, lower -cost beers, according to brand owner Marston's. The 2.8% abv brew retails at £1.19-£1.39 and matches all sorts of food, from veal and pork to cakes and puddings, according to brand manager Des Gallagher.

The campaign name There’s A Beer For That may have got cynics like me trying to think of things there wasn’t a beer for, but broadly speaking it was a force for good.
