Thwaites offers choice online

28 August, 2008

Daniel Thwaites has teamed up with online wine club Warehouse Wines to sell its beers online through its own website, thwaites.co.uk.

Visitors to the site can click through to the Beer Club of Britain to buy 12 or 24-bottle cases of Thwaites's top-performing beers Double Century, Flying Shuttle, Lancaster Bomber, Liberation Ale and Thoroughbred Gold for 22.99 or 43.99 respectively.

Brands marketing manager Lee Williams said: "Daniel Thwaites has a huge following in the north of England, but we are seeing more and more awareness of our beers across the country .

"We field

correspondence from Lancashire 'ex-pats' on a regular basis, the majority of them

craving Thwaites beers and asking

how

to get hold of them.

"The site will allow customers to pick their own mixed cases , a range of choice that is very difficult for any offline retailer to offer."

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
