Grapes from a single vineyard are given 18 hours' skin contact and cool-fermented at 14-16ºC. Restrained, fresh, light and eleg ant with pronounced melon and pineapple notes, as well as citrus and green fruit . Worth holding on to. CB

Sainsbury's Hungarian Pinot Grigio 2007

It might have a

short finish, but this

crisp, summery wine has intense tropical fruits on the nose, with ripe apple, pineapple and citrus fruits on the palate.

Perfect match with delicately flavoured foods

such as salad or grilled chicken.LC

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
