Spanish trio first Tesco Value wines
Published:  19 September, 2008

Tesco's Value will make its debut in the drinks aisles next month with the launch of three Spanish table wines.

OLN reported in July that the retailer had approached suppliers about sourcing a budget offer as it put a greater focus on entry-level wines. The company said it had previously resisted extending Value into BWS but felt the current economic climate meant the time was now right.

It was tight-lipped about the trio's price tags but hinted that more could follow if they prove successful.

Legally, labels

may not state the wine's varietal mix, but will emphasise style and flavours, Tesco said.

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
