United aims for year-round appeal

McVitie's Victoria and Masterpieces biscuit assortments will be available in smaller pack s from this month.

The change aims to enable retailers to "capitalise on the sales and profit potential that assortments can

provide all

Christmas and Easter", according

to brand owner United Biscuits.

McVitie's Victoria will come in a 250g boxes and Masterpieces will be available in a 175g. Both will retail for 2.29.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
