PLB to add spirits range

07 October, 2008

PLB Group has announced plans to add a spirits dimension to its wine and beer portfolio.

It says it is looking for agencies to add to the new division, which will be managed by Adam Wyartt, who joined PLB in June from Francoli Distillers.

The expansion of the business comes as part of PLB’s five-year strategy to diversify its offering and follows the recent move into the branded beer market.

"It is important in today's climate to be able to offer a full range of services,” said managing director Peter Darbyshire. "Our work over the last year or so has been geared towards broadening our base of disciplines - from consolidating our marketing and retail sales teams to boosting the on-trade focused wholesale division.

"This means we are now perfectly poised to integrate a range of spirits agencies into the PLB stable."

One of the most fascinating stories in wine, fit to stand alongside the Judgement of Paris, is that of Rudy Kurniawan, a man who managed to fool friends, auction houses and experts into believing they were drinking some of the world’s most expensive wines.
