Waitrose is running its first Single Malt Whisky Showcase from Nov 5 to Dec 2. It will feature 18 of the 30 single malts available at the supermar ket, with savings of

£5-£9 on each bottle. Tastings and food and whisky pairings will also take place in-store.

Beefeater is pushing its status as

the spirit of London by producing an insider's guide to the city. An interactive map showing things to do in the capital will be available at beefeatergin.com. The website will also feature information on how Beefeater is made, podcasts and video updates.

Berry Bros & Rudd is rolling out the fourth limited release of Blue Hanger. The blend consists of spirits ranging from

16-34 years old. It has a price tag of £59.95.

The Reformed Spirits Co has launched what it claims is the first totally clear cream liqueur. Triibe is made with Irish malt whiskey and charcoal filtered for smoothness. It is described as having hints of chocolate, vanilla

and caramel, and it will initially be available in Selfridges and bars

across the UK.

French liqueur Chambord has gained listings for its 20cl bottle in 160 Waitrose stores nationwide. Sampling took place in 95 Waitrose branches last month to support the listing .

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
