JPS smokes out the UK credit crunch

17 October, 2008

Imperial Tobacco is launching an economy brand of cigarettes as the

credit crunch hits smokers.

JPS Silver will go on

sale at the beginning of November. The brand includes JPS King Size Blue, Silver and Menthol

(rrp £4.21 for 20 and £2.12 for 10), and JPS Superkings Blue and Menthol (rrp £4.25 for 20). All variants will be available in standard and price-marked packs.

Trade communications manger

Iain Watkins said: "Increasing numbers

of adult smokers are moving down

through the cigarette price sectors

into the economy sector. The new JPS Silver range is perfectly positioned

to meet the ever-evolving preference

of the UK adult smoker."
