Young's new range shows its got bottle

Young's Bottle Conditioned Ale range has gained a 14% share of the market??? just a few months after their launch.

Kew Gold has sold more per outlet than any other brand launches over the last year, the latest Nielsen figures show.

And re-launched Young's Bitter is the second most significant launch across the bottled-conditioned ales sector.

Chris Lewis, director of marketing at Wells & Young's, said: "To have claimed almost 15% of the market within just a few months is fantastic . It's good news for retailers, too, as there is a higher price point for bottled-conditioned beers.

"This 'super-premium' sector's share of the whole single bottled ale market is continuing to increase and now equates to 5.8%."??? The bottle conditioned ale sector is the fastest growing sector in the bottled ales category in the off-trade, growing 15% in value and adding over £1.9m to the PBA category.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
