Grande entrance for new absinthe

Emporia Brands has released a 69% abv absinthe called Grande Absente.

The spirit is made in the south of France in the same pot still it was made in from 1860 until absinthe was banned in 1912.

The supplier warns drinkers not to drink Grande Absente on its own. It instead suggests diluting it with cold water and a dissolved sugar cube.

A 70cl bottle is available from thedrinkshop.com with a retail price of 32.95.

Sainsbury's is listing the Apsinthion De Luxe Christmas Pack this festive season. Containing a bottle of the 55% abv absinthe made by Poland's Toorank Distilleries and an absinthe spoon, it will retail for 17.19.
