MARKET MONITOR A graphic guide to the off-trade

14 November, 2008

Nine out of 10 Britons are happy and 70% are optimistic about the future, according to a survey by the National Social Marketing Centre. The poll was carried out in August, when the credit crunch was already hitting the housing market but before the full-scale banking crisis hit in September and October. It found that people in higher social grades and on higher incomes are more likely to say they are happy and optimistic - as are women, young adults and the oldest age group, people in good health, and people who are married or cohabiting.
