La Gioiosa targets fizz drinkers

Italian wine brand La Gioiosa is introducing revamped packaging for its Prosecco Spumante Brut.

The new look, which includes a matt gold foil capsule and redesigned label, emphasises the brand's "premium credentials and heritage", according to Lewis Jones, marketing director of UK agent D&D Wines International.

"In today's market conditions, as consumers trade down from Champagne to other sparkling wines, La Gioiosa Prosecco Spumante offers fantastic value for money at £7.49 ," he said.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
