Gordon's hopes to make stronger link

Diageo is investing a "significant portion" of the £7 million earmarked for the marketing of Gordon's in the run-up to Christmas.

The money will be spent on emphasising the link between the gin brand and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Gordon's will be the headline sponsor of Taste of Christmas, the new food and drink event taking place at Excel in London from Dec 4-7.

The sponsorship will include over £250,000 in media support, with the brand featured in promotional material and at the show's spirit and wine -tasting theatre.

Gordon's will also have a strong presence at

the Good Food Show in Glasgow, London and Birmingham, with its branding featured as a back drop to Ramsay's

cooking demonstrations.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
