Inverarity takes the deli route

Inverarity One to One, the retail arm of Scottish wine importer and wholesaler Inverarity Vaults, now has a permanent showcase of 40 of its wines at the Olive Tree Deli in Biggar, Lanarkshire.

It's a move that has been

made by a number of independents who take their first tentative steps into wholesaling by supplying local delis.

Managing director Hamish Martin said: "The opportunity to open a concession at the Olive Tree Deli presented us with the right platform and there are distinct synergies between our businesses that

made this a natural fit."

The range includes the Timorous Beasties house wines from 5.99 and Old World Masters including Amarone and Clos Canon, plus a selection of whiskies and spirits.

Olive Tree Deli owner Ivan Stott added: "Since we opened a year ago, it's been a process of establishing the right retail mix and, once we had learned what our customers wanted food-wise, it was time to address the need for a quality drinks provision. Inverarity One to One ticked all the right boxes."

Inverarity Vaults became the largest independent wine merchant in Scotland with the acquisition of Tim Morrison Wines in May 2008.
