Pinot Grigio joins Chilean range

16 January, 2009

Chilean wine producer Casillero del Diablo has added a 2008 Pinot Grigio to its range.

The wine is available exclusively through Majestic with an rrp bottle price of £6.99.

It was made using grapes from the cool-climate, estate-owned Lo Ovalle vineyard in the Casablanca Valley.

It has an abv of 13.5% and is bottled under screwcap.

Chief winemaker Marcelo Papa said: “Lo Ovalle has an ideal micro-climate for Pinot Grigio.

“The low rainfall, good drainage and cool coastal influence allow us to produce a fresh, citrusy and crisp wine with excellent length and palate weight.”

Casillero del Diablo 2008 Pinot Grigio is on promotion at Majestic until Feb 2 at £5.59 in a 20%-off two bottles of Chilean wine deal.

Agreeing to disagree

Disagreeing about wine is a fact of wine-trade life, like drugs in sport or corruption in politics. Because taste is entirely subjective, debates about our personal preferences are as inevitable as they are interminable. Indeed, these long-winded, wine-fuelled arguments are precisely what make our jobs so much fun.
