Ehrmanns swaps Los Robles for CVC

03 February, 2009

Ehrmanns is to replace the Los Robles Chilean Fairtrade wine brand with wines from a new producer partnership under the name CVC.

The brand – whose name is still to be finalised – is a partnership between Ehrmanns and the Consorcio Vinicola de Chile, a group of four small growing associations based in Talca in the Maule Valley.

Ehrmanns bought all the remaining stock of Los Robles last year after the producer hit financial difficulties but the brand will now make way for nine wines from CVC.

The UK firm will be importing Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, Malbec and Syrah.

Ehrmanns chairman Peter Dauthieu said: “We’ve worked hard these past months to help CVC through the somewhat complex but necessary audit paperwork.

“At the same time, our winemakers have assisted CVC growers to the point where they can now supply first-rate Fairtrade wines in styles and quantities required, at a competitive price.”

Ehrmanns also supplies the Fairtrade wines Stellar Organic and Thandi from South Africa, and Soluna from Argentina, in the UK market.

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
