First Cape pips Kumala at the post

Kumala has been overtaken by First Cape as the top South African wine brand .

First Cape has added £48 million to its value and 989,000

9-litre cases to its volume in the

past 12 months, according to the latest Nielsen figures to March 21, 2009.

It s performance means the Brand Ph oenix-owned brand now sits in eighth position in the line-up of bestselling light wines in the


Steve Rosser, one of First Cape's UK directors, said: "We are delighted to have hit the category leader position in only six years, but we still have a lot of work to do on distribution ."
