OLN to co-host LIWF briefing

OLN has

teamed up with Wine Intelligence to host a briefing on positive retail strategies for today's economic climate

at this year's London International Wine Fair.

The event -

Moving Beyond Discount - will be co-hosted by OLN editor Rosie Davenport and Lulie Halstead, chief executive

of Wine Intelligence.

It will unveil new insights into the psychology of wine shopping to look at how and why shoppers behave as they do in stores, and set out strategies for influencing shoppers without slashing prices in the recession.

The event is on

May 13

at 3.15pm, in the Masterclass Theatre at Excel, and is part of a programme of Wine Intelligence events across all three days of the exhibition. E mail

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
