Bulmers Pear cider is being backed by an ad campaign on 5,500 six-sheet poster sites. The campaign features the brand's Pear Condensation ad and the

bottle, and comes ahead of the May launch of the Bulmers Pear can for the off-trade .

Camra has published a book exploring the world of cider and perry production. Cider has been compiled with contributions from writers, producers and Camra enthusiasts and

Scottish & Newcastle UK's Sagres Portuguese lager has been signed as the official beer of the Beachdown music festival, to be held near Brighton over the August Bank Holiday weekend. It is also backing events in the Brighton Fringe in May and gigs at a venue in Camden

South London's Meantime Brew ing has filled a 350-litre oak Syrah wine cask with a beer made in the Belgian abbey style. The beer will age for a year before being tapped at the company's new brewery at the £6 million Discover Greenwich educational centre, scheduled to open early next year.

Michael Hardman has been presented with an MBE by the Queen at Windsor Castle. Hardman was a co-founder of Camra and was honoured for services to the organisation and the beer industry. The former Fleet Street journalist handled Young's PR for 27 years, and created and edited both the Good Beer Guide and What's Brewing.

A balloon branded with Shepherd Neame's Spitfire ale will take to the skies above Kent

this summer. The balloon will give flights to up to 16 paying passengers at a time. Neame has also re-signed as Kent County Cricket sponsor for the new season .
