Red Tractor first for Cains Export

24 April, 2009

Cains Export has become the first lager to be given the Red Tractor logo by Assured Food Standards.

The Red Tractor symbol is an independently

operated scheme that shows products are made with ingredients from farms and producers that meet high standards of food safety, hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.

Sudarghara Dusanj, joint managing director of the Liverpool-based brewer, said the certification was "recognition of the fact that we apply the highest standards throughout the brewing process".

He added: "We're very proud to have the first lager to join a prestigious stable of products which British consumers trust."

Greene King was recently awarded Red Tractor status for all of its ales.

Agreeing to disagree

Disagreeing about wine is a fact of wine-trade life, like drugs in sport or corruption in politics. Because taste is entirely subjective, debates about our personal preferences are as inevitable as they are interminable. Indeed, these long-winded, wine-fuelled arguments are precisely what make our jobs so much fun.
