Call for awards entries

27 March, 2009

The hunt is on for the top

wave Spanish wines of 2009.

The closing date for entries to the New Wave Spanish Wine Awards, the annual event which showcases the best Spanish wines in the UK off-trade, is April 24.

Now in its fifth year, the judging of the competition will, once again, be led by OLN's Tim Atkin MW, who has gathered a panel of some of the most experienced palates in the trade.

Last year around 900 entries were put forward. Wines

From Spain

is hoping there will be an increase in the amount of entries this year.

Information about the competition will appear in the trade section of Wines

From Spain's new UK-specific website.

Winners, including the trophy awards for each key category, will be announced in an issue of OLN ahead of a

tasting for the trade and the press on

July 8.

The complete low down on the event - the winning wines across all categories from sparkling, whites, rosÚs and reds to sherry and sweet wine styles, Atkin's report on the event, awards for contemporary and classic label design and related features - will be published in OLN's New Wave Spanish Wine Awards supplement in September.
