New Old Moors

27 March, 2009

Devon Cider has added a cider flavoured with elderflower to its Old Moors range.

The 4% abv product will be launched in 56.8cl bottles from April.

The cider joins a range that includes blackberry, peach, pear and apple.

The company is planning a "major investment programme behind its Old Moors and Three Hammers brands later in the year", said chairman James McIlwraith.

He added: "Though we are well

known in the south west, we

want to add our brands to the national cider map

and play a

role in helping to grow the sector."

The company

recommend s

that the newcomer is served over ice.

McIlwraith added: "Elderflower is already a highly established natural flavour in cordials, and its soft and floral tang provides a perfect accompaniment to the traditional Old Moors cider recipe."

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle ľ which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
