Halewood ventures into online retailing

10 August, 2009

Halewood International has ventured into online drinks retailing with the launch of drinks2home.co.uk.

The direct-to-door service will specialise in selling wines from £4 to £10 a bottle, alongside a range of spirits and imported beers through Halewood’s Merseyside-based wholesale arm Classic Drinks.

It will also sell a range of wines imported exclusively by Halewood. Chile and Argentina are particular areas of strength, according to wine buyer David Vaughan, who previously worked with Boutinot, Greenalls Cellars and Morrisons.

The website, which requires a minimum order of one bottle, will also feature a range of pre-selected cases of wines containing six or 12 bottles from individual countries or chosen by style or grape variety.

A flat delivery fee will apply irrespective of how many bottles consumers order, and delivery will be made within five days by City Link couriers.

The spirit and beer range will include both well-known brands and specialist, premium products.
