OFT examines Tennentís takeover

The OFT is to examine the £180 million takeover of Tennentís by the Magners owner C&C Group.

Irish-owned C&C wants to use the Tennentís acquisition to boost distribution for its flagging cider business in Scotland and to give it a presence in the lager market.

The OFT said it would look at whether the deal would result in a ďsubstantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the UKĒ.
