Senior team named at PLB

Guy Young has been appointed as buying director of the new-look PLB after its acquisition of HWCG.

His team will include Paul Meihuizen, buying in the New World, and Nick Tatham MW covering the Old.

Amanda Walker will be marketing director with David Cartwright and John Osbourne heading up sales into multiple grocers. Osborne will also handle exports and the beer division. Peter Bisley will be head of sales for wholesale, high street and specialist sales.

The changes follow one-to-one consultations with both companiesí employees.

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
