Virgin Wines Christmas offering

26 November, 2009

Virgin Wines is promoting a series of wine offers for customers which will run over 12 consecutive days.

The “12 days of Christmas” campaign will start on November 30.

Customers will receive a special offer by email each day of the promotion, excluding Sunday.

A spokesman said: “The exact details of the offers are being kept under wraps but customers can expect to take advantage of an array of freebies, one-off special deals and large savings off a variety of customer favourites and new releases.”

Jay Wright, managing director of Virgin Wines, said: “We know from previous years that many of our customers like to stock up with wine for the festive season and so this is our way of helping them to take advantage of everything we have on offer, while thanking them for their loyalty during the course of the year."

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
