First Drinks Brands is shaking up its marketing department as part of internal restructuring following its acquisition of Rémy Cointreau.

The consumer marketing department has appointed three new marketing controllers – Kathy Roe will head up dark spirits, Victor Lanson will head up Champagne and an as-yet-unannounced recruit will head up white spirits.

Michael Thompson has been appointed as trade marketing manager and Roy Summers head of catgeory management.

Other new recruits include Andy Corris as senior brand manager for Glenfiddich, Anthony Habert as senior brand manager for Rémy Martin, St Rémy and Three Barrels, and Joanne Birkitt as senior brand manager for Russian Standard.

First Drinks has also unveiled a redesigned company logo to reflect its new credentials as the UK’s number one supplier of premium drinks priced at £20.

Managing director Chris Mason said: “We are facing the future with relish and genuinely believe we have the best balanced portfolio in the industry.

“Premium branded spirits are estimated to grow by 30% by 2013 so it is a very exciting time for the category.”?He added that a mix of above and below-the-line marketing campaigns are planned for all First Drink’s brands in the next 12 months – as part of a £40 million investment package.
