l Chimay has unveiled a redesign for its range of Trappist beers. The new?-look bottles will be available from March and are “fresher, luminous, contemporary and more modern,” according to Chimay marketing manager Philippe Henroz.

Shropshire’s Wood Brewery has helped raise £1,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity. Triple A?: Air Ambulance Ale was specially brewed by the brewery in Wistanstow and money donated from every bottle and pint bought throughout 2009.

Greene King is hoping awareness for Old Speckled Hen will rise “even further” with its latest ad campaign. Branding is now appearing on billboards and tube posters for the new series of Argumental, Dave TV’s comedy panel show.

OLN columnist Zak Avery’s new book 500 Beers will be available next month from Apple Press. In it he looks at traditional brews, as well as cutting-edge microbreweries?. It features a cross-section of brand and styles including ales, bitters, wheat beers, porters, stouts, pilsners, lagers? and fruit beers.

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
