l Chimay has unveiled a redesign for its range of Trappist beers. The new?-look bottles will be available from March and are “fresher, luminous, contemporary and more modern,” according to Chimay marketing manager Philippe Henroz.

Shropshire’s Wood Brewery has helped raise £1,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity. Triple A?: Air Ambulance Ale was specially brewed by the brewery in Wistanstow and money donated from every bottle and pint bought throughout 2009.

Greene King is hoping awareness for Old Speckled Hen will rise “even further” with its latest ad campaign. Branding is now appearing on billboards and tube posters for the new series of Argumental, Dave TV’s comedy panel show.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
