Wye Valley marks 25th anniversary

Wye Valley Brewery is celebrating its 25th year? with the launch in a bottle of its cask beer HPA?.

The limited-edition bottled beer will be released in March and a race night is in the pipeline for Hereford Racecourse in August.

Fundraising will benefit the brewery’s charity for 2010, Riding for the Disabled.

Peter Amor, chairman and founder of the brewery?, said: “It’s obviously very gratifying to have come this far.

Our success is down to the dedication of the team at the brewery – particularly my son Vernon.”?The brewery originally started in an old stable block ?in Hereford.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
