Tighe is BBPA’s new director of brewing

The British Beer & Pub Association has appointed Andy Tighe as its new director of brewing.

He succeeds Dr David Long, who has retired after 29 years with the BBPA.

Tighe joined the association in 1998 and moves from his current post as deputy director. ?A spokesman said he has played a key role in formulating taxation policy and annual Budget submission, as well as leading on beer duty operations and supply chain issues. He? also has a wealth of experience in environment policy?.

Brigid Simmonds, BBPA chief executive, said: “He will be a key advocate for the whole sector across the huge range of vital brewing issues we manage on behalf of members.”??

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”.
