Thierry’s adds NZ wines to range

Thierry’s has bolstered its portfolio with Burgundy stalwart Antonin Rodet and three New Zealand brands.

Antonin Rodet owns more than 90?ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise.

Buying director Dominique Vrigneau said: “Antonin Rodet is a very welcome addition to our portfolio and we look forward to working closely with the company, using our knowledge and expertise of the French wine market to reinforce the Rodet name and to increase distribution of its excellent wines here in the UK.”?Thierry’s recent New Zealand listings, all from Marlborough, are Tiki, Mistletoe Bay and Four Ships.

Described as an “ultra-premium” range, Tiki includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir and is produced in the Wairau Alpine Valley?Four Ships Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009 is Thierrys’ newly launched own?-label, and is produced in the Rapaura region of Marlborough.?

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
